Kids and Pets Are Too Funny

My daughter loves to chase our cat Catty around. It is quite hilarious. Catty is getting much better at dealing with kids. At first he really didn't like kids. He now allows Rayna and Peyton to play and pet him. He definitely doesn't let them maul him. He has his boundaries. I love the fact that my cat is interacting more with our kids now and hope that this teaches them to respect and love all animals.

I appreciate this one! We were quite concerned about bringing a baby into our home as we discovered your dear kitty, Gretta, hates children. She often bolts and hides when children visit and when they hunt her down and expect to pet her, it is often ended by a swipe and growl. Needless to say, by the time we discovered our kitty's "attitude problem," it was too late: we already grew to love her and she was part of the family and baby was on way! We were very cautious when we brought Reid home and yes, there were some hissing and hurting feelings on Gretta's part. But she has learned to co-exist with our son . . . however, I wonder what will happen when he starts moving! I did find it comical when Catty bolted for the protection of your hubby as he was behind the video camera!

I actually appreciate the fact that Catty was before the kids because our kids have to learn how to deal with a pet that isn't easily malled around. I have found with my sister and a friend of our that their cats will tolerate anything which is not the case for most animals. Peyton and Rayna growing up with Catty will teach them that animals have limits and need to be treated with respect. I know that when they are young we need to keep a close eye on the cat and them but it is well worth it in the long run. We have baby gates in our house so the cat can go places where the kids can't bug him too.
